In order to send emails from an email address through Amazon, it is mandatory to verify the ownership of that email address or domain. This can be achieved through the following steps:
To verify a single email address, such as john.doe@example.com
- Go to the verified identities section and click the button.
- Then, choose the Email address identity type and provide the email address (e.g. john.doe@example.com) that needs verification.
- Once entered, click the button again and wait for an email from Amazon containing a verification link. Click on the link to complete the verification process.
To verify a whole domain, such as anyone@example.com
It allows you to send from any email address associated with this domain.
- Head to the verified identities section and click on the button.
- Select the Domain identity type and enter the domain that requires verification, for example, example.com.
- After entering the domain, click on the button and scroll down the page to find the CNAME records that must be added to your domain's DNS. If required, contact the company you purchased your domain from for further assistance.
Keep in mind that Amazon indicates that record detection may take up to 72 hours to complete, although it usually happens much faster, depending on the domain provider. After the records have been detected, Amazon will notify you if the verification process is successful.
